trevordayportraitTrevor Day’s approach offers a unique blend of ingredients based on his 30 years’ experience as a writer, lecturer, researcher, trainer and coach. Writer or co-author of more than 40 books, 65 peer-reviewed articles and 30-plus articles for the national/international press, his works have sold in dozens of countries and have been translated into more than 17 languages.

Trevor has worked with some of the biggest publishing names in Britain and the United States, including: The Discovery Channel, The Economist, The Guardian newspaper, Heinemann, The Natural History Museum (London), Oxford University Press, Penguin, Random House and The Telegraph newspaper.

Trevor’s writing experience ranges from press releases for the UK’s largest government research council and guidebook-writing for a £97-million science, nature and arts complex, to scholarly books, academic articles and features for the national press. Trevor brings this breadth of experience to bear in working with staff, students and workshop participants whatever their background and level of experience. Trevor works with seasoned professionals as well as those new to academic and other forms of reading and writing.

Hand in hand with his publishing background goes Trevor’s expertise as a facilitator, trainer and coach. Originally a marine biologist (hence the images on this website), Trevor is a qualified teacher (PGCE, University of Bath) and has worked as a teaching and learning consultant to the UK’s largest non-metropolitan education authority. He coaches students and staff and facilitates courses in non-fiction writing and high-level reading at several UK universities. Trevor has a background in counselling, holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology and an MSc in Marine Biology, is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), and holds a PhD in Education (University of Bath).

Trevor was a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund at the University of Bath 2007-2011, having coached hundreds of students and staff in that time. He has in-depth knowledge and experience of the challenges of high-level writing and reading, and continues to publish at scholarly levels in these fields. His current research interests include the application of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to writing development, and exploring how both academic and employability imperatives can be met in undergraduates' writing on science and engineering courses. His ongoing research and development is funded by the University of Bath Teaching Development Fund and he has recently headed a nationally-funded HE STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) project on developing undergraduates' writing abilities, involving six universities.

Trevor has the ‘soft’ skills to work with clients and workshop participants on sensitive issues and the ‘hard’ skills to understand and respond to the needs of individuals and organisations, delivering an outstanding return on investment.
